Mobile experience

Filling in forms on a phone, and the Questionful mobile app.

Responsive forms

Forms are responsive: fields stack on narrow viewports and controls are sized for touch. Date and time questions use the browser’s native pickers, so on iOS and Android respondents get the platform’s own control rather than a reimplementation of one.

Nothing needs configuring. There is no separate mobile version of a form to maintain.

Uploads from a phone

Where a form accepts file uploads, respondents can pick from their camera roll or take a photo on the spot, subject to the owning plan’s limits (25 MB per file on paid plans; the Free plan does not collect uploads at all).

The renderer checks whether a selected file will fit before uploading it, so someone on a slow connection is not made to wait for a rejection.

The Questionful mobile app

There is a native shell app for Android and iOS that wraps the Questionful web app. It is for you, the form owner, respondents never need it.

What it adds over a browser:

  • Full-screen, with no browser chrome.
  • Your session persists on the device.
  • Biometric unlock, Face ID or fingerprint, to resume a saved session, re-locking when you sign out or send the app to the background.

On Android it is on Google Play. The iOS build is not on the App Store yet. Setup and troubleshooting live on the mobile app support page.

The app identifies itself to the backend with a private key, which is what lets it skip the bot challenge that public forms use.

Plans, checkout, payment cards and invoices are hidden while you are in the app, because the app stores forbid selling a subscription outside their own in-app purchase. Manage the plan on the website with the same account.
