Write the outcomes first, then work backwards
Decide on four or five results and write each description before writing a single question. The questions exist to reach an outcome, so outcomes first is the only order that works.
A personality quiz has no right answers. Instead of marking, it sorts: a handful of questions, and at the end the reader gets a result that describes them. That is what makes it a good shareable page and a common lead magnet. People finish it because the payoff is about them.
Not a stock template. Build it in a few minutes from a blank form, or describe it and let AI draft the questions on a paid plan.
It is also the one quiz format Questionful does not automate. Quiz scoring here compares an answer against a correct one and adds up points, which is grading rather than sorting. There is no tally across answers and no rule that maps a total onto a type, so a personality quiz is built out of branching instead, and this page is about doing that honestly rather than pretending the feature exists.
A starting point, not a rulebook: every question below is a real Questionful question type, and all of them are editable once the form is in your account.
| Question | Question type |
|---|---|
| Which of these sounds most like you? Every option routes to a section. This is the question doing the sorting | Multiple choice |
| What do you do first on a new project? A second sorting question, asked inside a branch to narrow the result | Multiple choice |
| Pick the image that fits your week Image options keep a quiz feeling like a quiz | Image choice |
| How do you prefer to work? | Multiple choice |
| Your result One section per outcome, with the description, an image and a link | Section |
| Want the full version by email? Optional email capture on the result section | Short answer |
Decide on four or five results and write each description before writing a single question. The questions exist to reach an outcome, so outcomes first is the only order that works.
Each outcome gets its own section carrying the description, an image and a link. That section is the quiz result: the reader lands on it and reads it, so it needs to be worth landing on.
Branching is set per individual answer choice on multiple choice, checkbox and dropdown questions, so each option points at the section that follows. One deciding question gives you one result per option; a second question inside each branch multiplies the outcomes without lengthening the quiz.
"Mostly As means you are an organiser" is not something the form can work out for you, each result comes from the route taken, so the branching has to reach the right section on its own. There are also no result images chosen by score, no shareable result URL per outcome, and no pass marks or timers.
Put an optional short answer on the result section. People who have just read something about themselves are far more likely to leave an address than people who have not started yet.
Share a public link, embed it on your own page so nobody leaves the site, Hosting the quiz yourself is not an option here: the standalone HTML export carries neither the branching nor the scoring. Respondents never need an account.
Yes, with branching rather than with scoring. Each answer choice on a multiple choice, checkbox or dropdown question routes to the section that follows, and each result is a section of its own. What it cannot do is tally answers across the quiz and map the total onto a type. The result comes from the route taken, not from a score.
A scored quiz has correct answers: each question carries points, the submission is marked automatically on arrival, and the reader sees a score out of a total with feedback per answer. A personality quiz has no correct answers: it sorts people into outcomes. Questionful automates the first and builds the second out of branching.
Four or five. Each one is a section you write and maintain, and readers cannot tell the difference between five well-written outcomes and twelve thin ones.
Yes. Put an optional short answer question on each result section, and push the response to Zapier, Make or your own endpoint to get it into your mailing list. There is no native mailing-list integration yet, and no lead scoring.
